FAN OF THE MONTH - JANUARY 2022
5 Questions with Kelly Hall...
1. When did you first become a fan of State Champs?
I first became a fan of State Champs back in 2014. I was a sophomore in high school and I found them on Youtube. I think I saw the name State Champs either on Twitter or something at the time and decided to look them up, but I don't really remember. However, I do remember that the first song I heard was either Elevated or Critical, and well, the rest is history.
2. How has State Champs affected your life?
State Champs have affected my life in the best way possible. I've had a pretty rough couple of years, especially last year during the quarantine, but Champs were the one thing that I found comfort in. One of the only things I would listen to on repeat was Champs. Then when they started streaming on Twitch, it not only gave a really cool and fun way for them to connect with us fans while we were all stuck at home, it also brought a lot of amazing people into my life. And for that, I am forever grateful. At the Pure Noise tour, a lot of us got to meet up for the first time and it was so surreal, but also some of my favorite moments. I have found my happy place again, and I owe a lot of it to State Champs.
3. If you have attended a State Champs concert - what was it like for you?
After attending 5 dates of the Pure Noise Records tour this fall, I have now been to 7 State Champs shows and each time has been better than the last. The first time I saw them play was at Detroit Warped Tour 2016 where I caught the end of their set, and then I saw them again that fall opening for Sleeping W/ Sirens in Grand Rapids. The SWS tour was where I really fell in love with State Champs and their live show. After that, I didn't get to see them again until the Pure Noise Tour, and as much as I loved all the shows that I went to, I think the New York shows were some of my favorites. I had never traveled outside of my little Midwest region for a show before and now I think I will be doing that more often. While I do very much enjoy watching them on stage, the atmosphere and energy of the crowd made the whole experience that much better. I can't wait to do it again in the future.
4. Any suggestions for what we can do/set up for Champs Fam?
As of right now, I can't think of anything else for Champs Fam. I really enjoy what's been set up and can't wait to see where it goes. However, if I do think of something, I will let you know!
5. If you could give State Champs a message - what would it be?
Thank you! Thank you for being a safe space for us fans to come and hang out. Thank you for everything that you do and for being the nicest guys. You are genuinely some of my favorite people and I'm so appreciative to have you in my life. Thank you for being there for me and a shoulder to lean when I needed it the most. I love you with all my heart and will see you again soon!
